Brookfield Court

This project consisted of the construction of 41 one bedroom senior citizen apartments and a community room for Dublin City Council. The building rose from a single storey to three storeys with external finishes of brick, Scandinavian pine windows and slate roof.  The apartments have communal heating and are arranged around a courtyard for added security.

Foundations were cast in situ concrete piles, with strip foundations supporting suspended concrete floors, due to brown field site, which had been previously filled in. Curved concrete ramps were constructed to access the 1st floor galvanised steel balconies which for provided access to the upper level apartments. All rooms in the apartments had a nurse’s call installed, which were connected to a monitoring station. Each apartment included the completion of a ‘wet room’ type shower room.
